Our History

No Time 2 Cook began several years ago when two sisters and a friend had a crazy notion to cook up a few favorite family recipes, freeze them in small containers, and haul it all to a little flea market in Byram, MS outside Jackson. Their efforts ended with empty coolers, cash in their pockets, and several business ventures on the horizon. Today, No Time 2 Cook has evolved into a fully licensed frozen food company in Oxford, MS, owned by Karen and Jeff Kurr. Another result of that first market is Kjon’s of Jackson owned by Kay and John Olliver.

Make Mine MSThough raised in Mississippi, the two sisters, Karen and Kay, have deep roots in south Louisiana, so it’s no surprise that No Time 2 Cook and Kjon’s claim to fame began with Cajun dishes such as Crawfish Etouffee, Gumbo, and Red Beans with Rice. Before long, Karen realized that her Oxford customers wanted more variety, so she began developing a wide selection of Southern casseroles, soups, and desserts, such as “Old Fashioned” Chicken Pie, Shrimp & Crab Corn Bisque, Caramel Cake, and much more.

You can find No Time 2 Cook’s seasonal frozen food items in its permanent freezer at The Mustard Seed Antique Emporium in Oxford, Ms and The Belhaven Market in Jackson every last Saturday, May thru December. (FYI: You can find Kjon’s at The Belhaven Market on all other Saturdays.) In the future, No Time 2 Cook hopes to offer a menu for online customers, but for now just load up your coolers and head to Oxford or Jackson. Karen promises it will be worth the trip.
